Simulation Based Clinical Training - Day 1

“See one, do one, teach one” is an ancient medical adage which assumes that a doctor, after observing a procedure, is now qualified to perform the next one, upon which they are now qualified to teach their peers; but is this practice still optimal?

With advancements in technology, the phrase “See one, practice many, do one” has come to the forefront. SBCT provides an avenue and atmosphere to enhance clinical decision-making skills, technical skills, and soft skills like communication skills. It also provides the opportunity to imbibe leadership qualities. In essence, the present module creates an awareness about SBCT and how it can be used as a tool to promote the ‘must possess’ attributes of a good clinician.

Course contents:

• Introduction to simulation based clinical training and its effectiveness in imparting clinical skills
• Management of a clinical emergency and related decision making
• Management of the patient with cardiac arrest, with special reference to the involved skills.
• Clinical assessment of the patient presenting with cardiac arrhythmia and initial management using EMD protocols.
• Role of team dynamics and communication skills
