Critical Care Medicine - Day 2

Without exception, the most chaotic area of a hospital is the ICU, with a constant influx of patients requiring urgent care, incessant cries, and constant movement; there is never a moment to be still. Through this chaos, doctors are expected to provide an air of calm, and act with assurity. We aim to familiarise students with the inner workings of the ICU, to provide a head start in patient management.

Course contents:

A pretest questionnaire will be given at the beginning of the program (No need to panic- it's not an exam).

The program will have 3 stations. Candidates will be divided into 3 groups and

will be rotated among the stations. Finally we will have an integrated session

combining all the stations.

• Organ-organ interaction
• Is death an enemy to be always fought in critical care?
• Empathy in critical care- Communication / Counselling

Program Schedule:

1. Introduction- Insight on who is a Critical Care Physician?

2. Station 1: Blood Pressure- Bench to bedside

3. Station 2: Ventilator- How COVID patients survived with this gadget?

4. Station 3: Ultrasonography- Is Stethoscope necessary for the millennial?

5. Station 4: Integrated session- Case scenario based
